With its new Community Notification System, CodeRED by ONSOLVE, the Village of Hales Corners can alert residents, businesses and visitors about potential emergency circumstances and rapidly notify specific geographical areas by telephone.
In the event of an emergency, the Hales Corners Police can identify the affected area and deliver to it a message that describes the situation and recommends the protective actions residents should take or the system can automatically call all listed telephone numbers within that geographic area and deliver the message.
Some of the many uses of the system include: Emergency Evacuations, Missing Person Alerts, Natural Disaster Alerts, Hazardous Material Leaks and Dangerous Criminal Activity.
The system uses existing telephones to alert citizens. There is no need for people to buy a specialized warning device. System administrators can also program additional telephone numbers into the database, allowing the addition of unlisted telephone numbers and cell phone numbers to the system. The system can deliver text messages to mobile devices as well, which greatly enhances the Village’s ability to warn and protect citizens.
Landline phone numbers including those on the national Do Not Call List are ready to accept alerts. However, alerts can not be received by unlisted numbers, cell phones or Voice over IP (Broadband) phones unless requested by the device’s owner. Upon request those phone numbers will be manually entered into the system and linked to a specific address. Once linked, the cell phone or unlisted number will receive alerts specific to that address. We encourage all those who live, work and play in Hales Corners with mobile phones to register!
